Mark Skoyles will be standing as the Liberal Democrat candidate for the Marlow ward in May 2017. He was brought up here and attended Marlow schools. Mark lives here with his family; his eldest daughter will be starting school this September. He has a Sports Therapy clinic on the High Street.
Mark says “My main aim if elected is to fight for long term sustainable prosperity of all Marlow residents which balances the needs of people, businesses and the environment . I have a particular interest in helping develop life-long preventative healthcare strategies that seamlessly integrate local NHS trust and community care / social services. Essential for the future community. I do hope you and your household can find the time to complete the survey.”
The Liberal Democrats have always believed in an open, tolerant and united society where ALL citizens are able to shape their local councils’ priorities. We believe the Conservative councillors representing Marlow at all levels of local government have been guilty of complacency with short term thinking and financial governance that has been mediocre at best – having failed to ensure value for money when outsourcing some contracts. Funding for vulnerable and elderly care is a national problem but frankly the county council has been lucky that in a relatively affluent area like South Bucks, house values have risen so much that the majority of older people have to self fund their retirement care. The Conservative cabinet on the council needs to be held to account for poor decisions.
More people not constrained by Tory party politics need to be asking the difficult questions to ensure we get the best value for our money.
